Duitsland
Geert Jan Bak werkt decennialang vanuit diverse bv’s als regisseur en acteur in Nederland, Duitsland en België. Met nadruk op Duitse tv-programma’s (glossy items, verborgen camera, clips). Ruim vijftien jaar verblijft hij in Duitsland – München en Keulen.

Formats
Voor veel programma’s reist Bak lange tijd met zijn eigen crews over de wereld (onder meer Duitse reis- en amusementsprogramma’s). Ook maakt hij in die periode Duitse programmapilots (ZDF) en ontwikkelt hij (mee aan) tv-formats.

Zenders/omroepen
Opdrachtgevers in Duitsland: diverse productiemaatschappijen (w.o. EndeMol), ZDF, RTL, Ravensburger TV, NDR. In Nederland: omroepen, zenders, productiemaatschappijen, bedrijfsleven.

Specialisme
Een van zijn specialismen in Nederland en Duitsland: verborgen camera (regisseur, acteur, script/scenario). Ook regisseert en produceert hij commercials. Over diverse mediaonderwerpen geeft hij uitleg in tv-programma’s en workshops.

Militaire techniek
Jarenlang staat Geert Jan Bak (samen met compagnons in verschillende divisies en werkmaatschappijen) aan de basis van meerdere mediabedrijven, levert hij faciliteiten (algemeen en verborgen camera), bouwt hij met zijn bedrijf realitystudio’s en ontwikkelt SoftwareVision software op basis van militaire beeldherkenningstechniek (workflow systems voor grote realityprogramma’s en compressietechniek voor streaming video).

Dagbladjournalist
Geert Jan Bak begint zijn mediacarrière als dagbladjournalist. Voor het Noordhollands Dagblad reist hij zes jaar in de zomermaanden als verslaggever/fotograaf over de wereld (onder meer emigrantenverhalen). Een paar jaar werkt hij als freelanceverslaggever voor radio en televisie. Daarna richt hij diverse mediabedrijven op en koopt (en verkoopt) een lokaal tv-station.

Geert Jan Bak has worked for decades as a director and actor in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, through various companies. His work has focused particularly on German television programmes (glossy items, hidden-camera productions and clips). For more than fifteen years, he spent extended periods in Germany – in Munich and Cologne.

Formats
For many programmes, Bak travelled around the world for extended periods with his own crews, including German travel and entertainment programmes. During this period, he also produced television pilots for ZDF and developed and co-developed TV formats.

Broadcasters
Clients in Germany included various production companies (including Endemol), ZDF, RTL, Ravensburger TV and NDR. In the Netherlands, clients included broadcasters, production companies, companies and public-sector organisations.

Specialism
One of his specialisms in the Netherlands and Germany is hidden-camera television (director, actor and script/screenplay). He also directs and produces commercials and has contributed to television programmes and workshops on various media-related subjects.

Military technology
For many years, Geert Jan Bak, together with business partners in various divisions and operating companies, was involved in establishing and running several media companies. He supplied production facilities, including hidden-camera facilities, built reality-TV studios and, through SoftwareVision, developed software based on military image-recognition technology, including workflow systems for large reality programmes and compression technology for streaming video.

Newspaper journalist
Geert Jan Bak began his media career as a newspaper journalist. For the Noordhollands Dagblad, he travelled around the world for six summers as a reporter and photographer, including for stories about emigrants. He later worked for several years as a freelance reporter for radio and television. He subsequently founded several media companies and bought – and later sold – a local television station.
